Hello and happy Witchy Wednesday, my magickal friend! Today we’re going to do a meditation using the energy of Lughnasadh.

This meditation is going to harness the power of Lughnasadh to aid us in better learning how to let go. Letting go is a skill that we all must hone so that we can move forward in our lives in order to not remain stagnant.

Establishing the breath

Take a moment to settle yourself where you are. Relax your body and close your eyes. Take a deep breath in through your nose, then exhale out through your mouth. Breathe deeply in, then exhale all of the air out. Breathe in, feeling the oxygen fill up your lungs, saturating your body, then breathe out, pushing out all of the air, contracting your diaphragm.

Continue to breathe like this for a few moments and regulate your breathing into a steady rhythm. If you feel your mind start to wander, keep coming back to the breath. Your thoughts are no more than leaves blowing by on a warm summer breeze.

Body Scan

Now turn your attention to your body. Take that warm summer breeze and then send it into the top of your head, into your crown chakra. Feel it clear out all of the stagnant energy, leaving your chakra feeling clean and clear. Then the breeze continues down into your third eye chakra. Feel it clear any clouds in your vision. The energy is feeling light and airy.

Next, bring that breeze down into your throat chakra, swirling the cool, clean energy through your throat and out of your mouth. It feels refreshing and crisp. Then send the breeze down into your heart chakra, saturating your blood with the clear energy moving through your heart.

Now the breeze continues down to your solar plexus chakra, revitalizing your power center. Feel it move the stagnant energy out of your body. Then it moves down into your sacral chakra, clearing the blocks to your creativity. You feel inspired with the clear breeze blowing through your abdomen.

Finally, you send the breeze down into your root chakra. The breeze moves out all of the negative, stale energy, leaving you feeling clear and light. The breeze blows away all negativity, and you feel renewed.

Connecting to Mother Earth

Next, continue your consciousness down through your root chakra into your legs and then out of your feet. Feel your mind and soul connect down to Mother Earth. Your bond with her starts to solidify. You feel her pulse in your body.

Then, you feel your connection with her strengthen as roots start to emerge from the bottoms of your feet. Your roots grow deeper and stronger, going further and further into the heart of the earth.

You feel her energy fill your whole being with love and compassion. She reaches out and touches your heart with her magick. You return her love with your own and the connection between you is established.

Growth

Then you turn your attention back to your roots. You feel yourself growing like a tree. You start out small, just a little sapling to start. Then you grow upwards, feeling your trunk thicken and harden.

Next, your arms start to reach out like branches, growing and expanding. You get taller and taller as your roots go deeper and deeper into the earth. You turn your face to the sky, absorbing all of the sunlight to nourish your body.

As you grow, your branch arms start to grow leaves. They start out as little green buds, then they open into tiny leaves, with fruit seeds in their center. The seeds grow larger and larger until they are full fruits.

Harvest

Your branches grow heavy with the weight of your fruit. The summer breeze shakes your ladened limbs as birds and bees fly through your branches. The summer sun feels so warm and relaxing and you rejoice in the bright rays of sunshine.

It is now time for your fruits to be harvested. You know that you no longer need to sustain your fruits and they will go to nourish another being. You feel joy in the possibility to do your part in the cycle of the seasons.

This is the start of the harvest season. This is the time to let go and make room for new things to come in. When our burdens weigh heavy like the fruits on a tree, we must release what is holding us down.

Letting Go

Think of whatever you are trying to let go of. See it in your mind’s eye. Once you have an image in your mind, then send it into one of the fruits on your branches. Move it from your mind down into your arm and along your branch like sap coursing through your body. Have it fill into the fruit you have chosen to bear this weight.

Once you have filled this fruit with whatever you are trying to let go of, release the fruit from your branch. Watch it fall to the earth. When it hits the earth you see the image dissipate as the energy flows into Mother Earth to be transmuted.

Then you see a critter pick up the fruit and you feel a sense of peace as your burden has both been lifted and your fruit is being used for nourishment for this critter who needed it. You may do this as many times as you need to let the things you wish to release go.

Returning to the body

Once you have shed all of the fruit you wish to shed, you then turn your attention back to your tree body. You feel your branches turn back into arms and your trunk back into your torso. Then you pull your roots back into your feet, thanking Mother Earth for her beautiful energy and love.

You feel the stiffness and the hardness of your tree body begin to soften back into flesh and bone. This simply feels like melting back into your earthly form. There is no pain. Now feel the weight of your body where you rest.

Coming back to the breath

When you feel fully back in your body, then focus on your breath. Feel your lungs expanding, then contracting. Breathing in deeply, then out fully. Breathing in positive, healing energy, then out any residual stagnant or negative energy.

Reestablish a steady rhythm with your breathing. Feel the warm breeze of summer filling your lungs. Now you feel refreshed and content. You are ready to move forward from the place you are today.

Reflection

Take a few more moments to focus on your breathing, then open your eyes. Think back to your experience as the tree. Was it easy or difficult for you to let go? What were the fruits of your tree? Do they symbolize anything for you? What did it feel like to let go?

Reflect on your experience and then make a conscious choice to move forward from this moment. Be at peace with your decision to let go of whatever you needed to release and know that Mother Earth will respond with what is for your highest and best purpose.

Take comfort in the support of Mother Earth and until next time, choose joy! Blessed be, my friend!
